When There’s No Next Man Up

Today was a sad day for Paddy and me as we lost a member of our team.  A member we can’t replace.  There is no next man up for The Family today.

And why mention it here?  Despite (or perhaps because of)  having raised a family of boys, she never was much of a sports fan.  I fondly recall many a family get-together or holiday where she would leave the room where the game was playing to find something else to do besides watch football.  However, any time I talked to her and mentioned the Colts, she always seemed to know how they were doing and always had something to say.  And I’d like to think, that even though she couldn’t stand football, she peeked at the sports page or kept an eye on the nightly news so she could always have something Colts-related to say.  And that’s the take home message.  Even though it wasn’t her thing, she loved us enough to care.

  1. The team will never be the same. I know for certain that her 90 pounds of whoop-ass is going to be missed dearly…
