Weekends are for Posting

Greetings, loyal WeAreIndy.com reader(s)!  Paddy O’ finally checking in to update you on the status of a few things before the holiday weekend truly gets rolling.

As Rick O’ has mentioned, 2012 is going to be the year of our gorilla marketing campaign.  With that in mind, I am proud to announce that the first steps have already been completed in regards to our sponsoring a platypus!  Due to the time delay in sending items through the post to another continent, I do not yet have the paperwork, but be assured, dear reader, that the sponsorship effort is progressing quite nicely.

Now, for those of you not paying attention at home, or are new to this *cough* blog  *cough*, the mighty and majestic Platypode has played an instrumental part on these pages since October 2011.  Admittedly, it stems from Rick O’ ratting me out to the DNR, an effort which ultimately backfired on him.  It also resulted in one of my favorite images ever to grace these pages.  Where else can you go on the internet and find a platypus wearing a 2006 AFC Championship Game t-shirt?

As for the second part of the campaign, the harassing you at urinals, well, I’m just going to keep quiet on that.  The idea is there and some prototypes are being developed, but I just want to let the subtle feeling of uneasiness linger a bit.  You know, for impact.

Lastly, dear reader, I wanted say that some time this weekend, between all the trips to the lake, cookouts, and beer drinking, please take the time to find a veteran, shake their hand, and thank them for their service.  Or go stomp a cemetery.  Or maybe go and enjoy your local Memorial Day parade.  A whole lot of brave men and women (and yes, animals, too) fought for this country and a great many of them were not lucky enough to return to their families.

It takes a very special person to make that sort of sacrifice and they should be remembered.  Had it not been for them, I would not today enjoy the freedom to sit here at 10 in the morning, writing this silly blog post in complete safety, totally free from the fear of censorship or oppression.  So please, try and remember that there is much more to this weekend than an extra day off from work.

And, to keep from ending this post on such a somber note, here is a picture of a platypus running….
